How to reach us by air

London has lots of airports:
Heathrow is the cheapest to reach: 1½ to 2 hours on the Underground.
Gatwick is an hour away from us by train or car to the south.
Stansted is an hour away by car or train to the north.

Some may be less familiar to you:
City is closest. You could even walk there!
Southampton is nicest: shortest walk to the plane.
Manston is newest: just starting commercial flights.
Luton is a pain to reach.
Birmingham, Bournemouth, Coventry, and Lydd are not impossibly far away.

From them you can reach us by an amazing variety of routes. The closest railway stations to our offices (less than 10 minutes walk) are Deptford Bridge, Greenwich, and Lewisham. Slightly further away (but still not impossible walks) are Cutty Sark, New Cross, St Johns, Blackheath, and Greenwich North.

On arrival at Heathrow, follow the signs to "Underground", not "Train" which is an expensive trap. Buy a one-way ticket to Greenwich (currently £3.80) unless you plan to go anywhere else in London, when a one-day TravelCard (currently £5.40) is better. Take the Piccadilly line train (blue on the map) towards central London, and get out at Baron’s Court. Stroll a few feet across the platform and wait for a District Line train (green on the map). Get out at Monument and walk through lots of tunnels (easy with luggage because it is all on the flat or by escalator) into the adjacent Bank station for the Docklands Light Railway. Enjoy the DLR’s scenic switchback ride through Canary Wharf, under the Thames, through Cutty Sark and Greenwich stations, and get out at Deptford Bridge. Finally walk 7 minutes eastwards along the A2 main road to our offices.

We always used to recommend getting off the District Line at Embankment, walking up to Charing Cross station and taking the main line train to Greenwich station. That may still be a few minutes quicker, but it costs more in money and involves more stair climbing. If you make the mistake of taking the Jubilee Line (grey on the map), don’t go to Greenwich North, which is a long bus ride away. Get off either at Canada Wharf and catch a bus, or at Canary Wharf and change to the DLR. The East London Line (orange on the map) also comes to south-east London; New Cross station is a long walk or a short bus ride away.

On arrival at Gatwick, make sure you buy a ticket for a Thameslink train, which runs into London Bridge where you change platforms to catch a train to Greenwich. At Greenwich, cross the station forecourt, turn left at the main road, walk fifty yards, and turn right to head southwards towards us along Greenwich South Street.

If you make the mistake of taking the (more expensive) Gatwick Express, it will deposit you at Victoria station, from where it is best to take a train to Lewisham.
