Q

Why does my plotter cut unevenly across the bed?
|
A
|
Assuming that the blade is intact, the most likely reason is a
worn cutting strip. This is the thin plastic strip below the knife.
New ones can be bought from us for around £5 (GBP) plus postage.
After removing the worn strip you may need to clear away the old glue
before pressing the new self-adhesive strip into place.

Why does my plotter cut single line letters saying things like
PA;PU1534,5638;?
|
A

Roland plotters use one of two different languages to communicate
with the computer (known as Mode 1 and Mode 2). The PNC-900, 910, 950
and 960 thought they were clever enough to automatically detect which
language you were sending. They don't always get it right and default
to Mode 1. VinylWriter users can re-run Set up programs on the
main menu and go through the plotter settings until the question about
whether you want to use Mode 1. Answer 'Y ' to this question.

My plotter cuts signs in the wrong orientation

If your plotter is a PNC-900, 910, 950 or 960, make sure the
ROTATE button is pressed before SETUP. The CM12 and CM24
can be permanently set via the DIP switches on the side. For other
models go through the menus on your plotter panel until you find
Rotate. Select Rotate (usually by pressing <Enter>), then
choose RO-90 (early models referred to this as EXPAND-X)
with the arrow keys and <Enter>.

My plotter gives huge sizes for the vinyl measurement
|
A

Go through the menus on your plotter panel until you find Units.
Select Units, then choose MILI. It would also be wise to check
the values of I/O and Command. I/O should be PARA
(assuming you use a parallel connection), while Command should be
MODE 2.
